For families teaching Hindi at home
Many children hear Hindi from grandparents or parents but answer in English, especially when they're growing up outside India or at an English-medium school. These cards give the whole family a simple, shared way to practise. Children who can't read Devanagari yet can follow the picture and the audio, and older children start linking the Hindi script to words they already know.
How the audio works
- Go to chatterbugs.app and enter the code from your box.
- Scan the QR code on a card to hear the word in Hindi and English.
In the app you can see the Hindi text, slow the audio down, play just the part you want, and record your own voice as the model. Audio plays online, so you'll need an internet connection.
How to use the cards
- Pick one topic to start, such as family or animals.
- Look, listen and say. Play the Hindi audio and say the word together.
- Point and name. "कुत्ता कहाँ है?" (Where is the dog?)
- Use it at home. Name family members, colours and objects in Hindi during the day.
- Put the cards up. Stick a few on the fridge or wall and change them each week.
