What is functional language? Functional language is everyday communication children use to get things done — like asking for help (“Can you open this?”), expressing likes or dislikes (“I like apples” / “No, thank you”), making choices (“I want the red one”), joining in play (“Can I play too?”), or giving instructions (“Put it here”).
This kit contains vocabulary cards: 36 audio-enabled flashcards to teach 30 things I eat and 6 colours. All card games are designed to help your child revise the vocabulary either as single words, or in phrases or sentences, and to learn to use this vocabulary functionally. This deck is enhanced with the Chatter Bugs app! Listen on the app, and record and hear yourself back! How well are you doing? The Chatter Bugs app makes our flashcards' bilingual. Your child can learn Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Kannada and Telugu, via English. The app also displays the card text in the chosen language, helping your child to learn to read. The code to access the Chatter Bugs app is supplied with your deck.
Colour Catch (Game): Match a card to your board by colour. Teaches two word utterances such as ’green apple’, ‘yellow banana’ etc. (Adjective + Object utterances)
Fruit Salad (Game): Creates conversation opportunities for modelling requesting and rejecting utterances (Eg: I want, I don’t want, What do you want?, Do you have…?, Can I have more…?)
Melon Madness (Game): Teaches 14 action words. To be played as a memory game is also a focussed Subject-Verb-Object learning tool.
